Okay, so I just posted my homemade chicken fajitas recipe (click here for it if you missed it) and I was thinking it was probably time to share what was topping them – avocado crema.  Yes, the creamy mixture drizzled on the fajita below is not just regular old sour cream (which I adore and will gladly eat by the container), but a version with some kick.

For the cilantro haters out there, you could easily substitute the cilantro in this for the same amount of parsley (like we did in the pico de gallo recipe here) – but for the record, I used cilantro in this and there were no complaints from my boyfriend!  It really just gives the creamy avocado a nice green flavour with the lightly spicy fresh garlic.  This stuff is so easy to throw in a blender and store in a squeeze bottle.  Try this on a variety of foods – fajitas/tacos, nachos, baked potato, salad, wraps and sandwiches!  This sauce is so versatile.  Check out this recipe after the cut.



  • 1 avocado
  • 1/4 cup cilantro with stems
  • 1 clove garlic, peeled
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon lemon or lime juice, freshly squeezed being careful to avoid seeds
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Up to 1/3 cup water to thin mixture out


  1. Blend all ingredients until smooth.
  2. Add water until mixture is at desired consistency.
  3. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Once finished, put in a bowl to top food of choice, or store in a squeeze bottle in the fridge for future use.


Try this on a variety of foods - fajitas/tacos, nachos, baked potato, salad, wraps and sandwiches! This sauce is so versatile.

    Hi I love your blog. Can you post some breakfast ideas? And also how long will the avocado crema last in the fridge in that squeeze bottle. Looks delicious, can’t wait to try it..
